New: OneDrive Integration in Flowyer - Double Security, Offline Access
One of the greatest fears of a law firm is always the same: “What happens if the documents are lost?”
A server fails, someone makes a mistake with backups, or a ransomware encrypts everything... This is when the value of a real backup becomes apparent.
In Flowyer, we have been using Google-based storage that exceeds domestic industry standards, but now we are taking it to a new level: the Microsoft OneDrive integration is now available, allowing you to automatically sync the documents stored in Flowyer to your OneDrive account every night.
What does this mean in practice?
In short: two independent enterprise infrastructures safeguard your documents.
- The documents are primarily located in Google's Frankfurt data center.
- Additionally, a second copy is made every night on Microsoft's servers, in your OneDrive account.
Thus, if a problem arises on either side, the documents will still be available on the other.
Transparent, organized folder structure – not just sync, but organization
Flowyer does not “scatter” documents on OneDrive but creates and updates them in a structured manner.
- A separate folder named Flowyer is created on OneDrive.
- Within this, documents are organized by years.
- Documents related to specific case numbers are found in their respective folders.
As a result:
- If you work in Flowyer: you can find everything there immediately.
- If you search on OneDrive: the same logic applies, allowing you to identify the desired file by case/year in seconds.
No need to manually sync, export, or copy folders back and forth – the system does it for you.
Offline access – documents on your laptop, tablet, phone
One of the greatest advantages of the integration is that documents are accessible offline.
If you install the OneDrive client on your computer or mobile devices:
- Flowyer folders sync to the local machine,
- and you can open the documents even without internet – for example:
- when traveling to a meeting,
- when mobile internet is weak,
- or when working from home with a temporary network outage.
Once the internet connection is restored, changes and new documents automatically update.
Simple setup – the system handles the rest
The integration is designed to not burden you or your colleagues with unnecessary technical tasks.
- One-time activation – link your Flowyer account with your Microsoft OneDrive account in Flowyer settings.
- Approval of permissions – grant the necessary permissions (file read/write, long-term access).
- Automatic nightly run – thereafter, synchronization runs automatically every night, with no daily tasks required.
From then on:
- You work in Flowyer,
- and Flowyer and OneDrive ensure data security and availability in the background.
Why is this beneficial for a law firm?
Some typical situations where OneDrive integration is truly valuable:
- Laptop malfunction or theft
- The device is lost, but the documents are not stored on the laptop, rather in the cloud and secondary OneDrive backup – thus, data is not lost.
- Ransomware or infection on a local machine
- If a computer is encrypted, you still have access to cloud copies of documents, and the Flowyer–OneDrive combination provides a fallback.
- Working from multiple locations, home office
- With the “commuting” between office, home, courtroom, and travel, it is crucial to have a consistent document inventory on all devices – OneDrive sync helps with this.
- Immediate response to client inquiries
- If a client asks a question on the go, simply open the appropriate folder on your phone or tablet – no need to be tied to the office computer.
Data security, compliance, control
The goal of Flowyer's OneDrive integration is to add value to legal work, not complicate it.
- European data center (Google Frankfurt) – primary storage
- Microsoft servers – secondary, automated backup
- Organization according to legal logic – year, case number, transparent structure
Summary – less risk, more peace of mind
The essence of OneDrive integration is that:
- it does not store legal documents in just one place,
- but with two large, independent cloud providers,
- all with automatic, nightly sync, without manual intervention,
- and complements Flowyer usage with offline accessibility.
This allows you to focus more calmly on what truly matters:
your clients, your cases, and your legal work – while Flowyer and OneDrive ensure that documents are available when and where you need them.
